Seeing this as a thumbnail, I wondered, who is she sitting with? The I saw the full frame picture and saw that it was me. :-) These little trains take one into the valley and out again. Really, not too far to walk, but it's warrn to hot, and why waste precious time walking? |

The Valley of the Kings is a major tourist attraction as you can see, even here in the off-season. |

We had an idea of what we wanted to see, and hoped that those tombs were currently open. They all get closed periodically. |

We found this one open and climbed on up |

This guy. He was a warrior king who ruled with his stepmother Hatshepsut and was her commander in chief. Should be an interesting book. |

Photography was strictly forbidden. However, an older couple were trying to sneak a photo and got caught by the guard who made a huge yelling commotion over this. While all of this was going on, I set my camera on a flat stone, flash off, and took a time exposure from a spot where I could not be seen. The sarcophagus is behind the decorated stone. You get the idea. This was the main chamber. A sky of stars is typical here. |

After we came out I noticed this little group. This is how Far Horizons travelers are usually taken care of. They get private lectures from the archaeolotgists and get to tour into spaces the rest of us aren't allowed in. If you have the money, that's the way to go. The tomb they are outside of belongs to Amenmeses. |
